Forgotten Coffee

Hey hey, crafty people! Hope your morning started better than mine. I left for work and forgot my coffee. I’ve been trying to get back into the habit of brewing my own, because it tastes better than the kcups at work and I don’t have time or money for Wawa coffee or Starbucks every morning. So on top of the miserable weather that just won’t go away, now I get miserable “coffee”. For real, every time I went to take a drink of my kcup brew, I glared at it a little bit.

On to happier things though. I’m leaving work early today! I work through a lunch earlier this week, and I’m taking a half lunch today so I can escape early. We’re having some people over this weekend, and I want to get a jump on some cleaning and the stuff I want to bake. But I’m totally making a pit stop to one of my LYS (Knit One Stitch Too)on the way home, to see if the have the new Laine magazine issue. There’s a gorgeous sweater pattern in there that I MUST MAKE.

I’m going to try to organize these posts from now on, instead of just having a giant stream of consciousness interrupted by pictures. 👍

I mentioned before that I was working on a Nor’easter cardigan by Babycocktails and a 3 Color Shawl by Joji Locateli. Still pretty dedicated to just these two. I finished the sleeves for the cardigan, and last night I made it past the bottom ribbing on the body! The sleeves may end up getting more work though. They seems a bit too short for my preference; I like my sweater cuffs to come down over/past my wrist some. And I’m so proud of myself, I’ve been doing the cables (except the one tricky one here and there) without a cable needle! 3 works until Rheinbeck, I can totally finish it by then! Probably. Maybe…. A girl can dream.

The shawl is into it’s final (maybe penultimate?) stage. My math for adjusting the size was good, and I have a few rows done in the lace. Like 3 rows. These rows are SUPER LONG right now. It’s gonna be awesome in the end.

Can I count my Crochet Master Class work as a WIP? It’s not a project project, it’s just a collection of swatches and technique samples… Hmm.

I have 1! The sockhead slouch hat for my mom is done. There is no picture, you’ll just have to trust me on that. It’s been on the way back burner, I haven’t mentioned it here before. But I want to wash the project bags it’s in, so I powered through it. The yarn is Knit Picks fingering in a colorway that I fell out of love with. There’s about half a skein left, so I’ll probably end up making her some matching fingerless mitts, too.

Stash Enhancement

I may have bought two sweaters worth of yarn from a destash on eBay. Some Regia sock weight, and some Debbie Bliss Rialto fingering. Plus a couple sock skeins. Don’t judge me! It was an awesome deal. But yeah, I completely took the “no more yarn until Rheinbeck” notion from earlier this summer and just heaved it out the window. I did bid responsibly, I checked the yardage per lot and have at least three sweaters that I would make with this yarn. And we all know sock yarn doesn’t count as stash, plus it’s all Halloween colored and fabulous, and I’ve never used this yarn before! Some of it isn’t arriving until Monday, but most of it should be waiting for me when I get home 🖤. In the mean time, here’s some potato photos from the eBay listings:

Future Plans

Like I said, I found a few sweater patterns recently:

I’m between Autumn Breeze and Florence for the Regia yarn, I really love them both. It will probably come down to gauge swatching for this. I’ll be sure to post pictures of the new stash yarn on Instagram later today, and probably pictures of what I’m baking.
